YESTERDAY AND TOMORROW
QUALITY CACAO FROM AROUND THE GLOBE
In the mid-1500s the superior of Father Bernardino, returning from his trip to the Americas, before arriving in Spain, stopped by Ferdinando dei Medici, then Cardinal and who later became Grand Duke of Tuscany, to leave him the only copy translated from the Indian to the Castilian of twelve books which spoke of cocoa and specifically of chocolate.
Later the Medici family financed Francesco Carletti's trip around the world to explore and collect. And so Carletti, on his return to Italy, brought the first cocoa beans.
The documentation confirms that this was the first cocoa to arrive in Italy.
Fonderia del Cacao has elected Ecuador as a country of attention for the development of the selection of origin. The great climatic variety of this wonderful country has meant that the same tree line of Cacao Fino de Aroma evolved over the years, acquiring completely different shades and aromas.
